Well at first it was a coincidence but then he started to realize that maybe he's just better with girls named Katherine's and he liked the way they made him feel. I also think that he was is afraid of change so he resorts back to his same routine.

Well, at first it was just a coincidence, and then he realized what was happening and only looked for Katherines. Is it dumb? Probably. Is it entertaining? Yes. It's just a character quirk :)
