A Goodreads user asked:

I knew it was like verity by Colleen Hoover, but the similarity is too much. Even some dialogues are same. It's a little irritating. Is it inspired or simply a fan-fiction?

Laura Verity was written AFTER The Wife Upstairs - so Hoover must have read Freida's book.

January All of her books have scenes and plots from other stories, check out Behind Closed Doors by B. A. Paris, she has chopped it up and used parts of it over several of her books including this one. The Housemaid features scenes from 6 different books but the most obvious one is The Last Mrs. Parrish.
Stephanie I have not read Verity. I am curious as to what dialogue is the same, but I have trouble getting through romance, personally. Just too much spice for me.
