I can't believe I'm the first one to ask this but how close is the book to the movie?

It is not close to the movie at all. The movie is a much longer story with more plot, character development and more characters. The book is more of a short story, with far less characters and a much shorter plot. The movie is better than the book.

Not close at all. This is one of those rare cases where the movie is better than the book. The only similarities are
1. the beach club being the hang out place
2. Claire & Hailey are BFFs
3. an impending move (Claire is moving to Florida in the book, but Hailey is moving to Australia in the movie)
4. Raymond works at the beach, and is dreamy (in the movie he’s a lifeguard)
5. Aquamarine washes up and is in love with Raymond.
The book is cute for kids, and an interesting read to compare, but by far the movie is way better and more in-depth.
