I read the first 30 pages and I can't get myself to go further. I feel like the writing and grammar is too clunky and not very fluid. It almost feels like you are trotting on a horse that never gets to a gallop. Does the grammar and writing style in the book improve or should I just read something else?

If you don't like either, it may not be the book for you--not everybody has to like the same books, neither do books all have to be the same. As you can see, a lot of people have really enjoyed this book, especially the way it carves up some tired fantasy tropes. I happen to like Abercrombie's writing style, too. Again, it's not for everyone, but I still think you're missing out if you don't experience it.(less)
