I think that answer depends entirely on your twelve year old. I have spoken at book clubs of tweens who've read it, and I would have read it at twelve, but that doesn't mean it's right for every twelve year old. There's no sex or sexual violence, but it is a darker book with plenty of violence/dissections/etc. Some kids just aren't ready for that yet, they need a few more years. So all I can say is: Use your best judgement.

I am too twelve and I think it's not that bad if you quiver at the word blood than this is not for you many of the characters aren't scary if you want a preview of the book they made it into a very well drawn comic on a website called webtoon and it's free which is cool I hate horror books but I found this book nice i hope you like it
