Goodreads asked Jacquelyn Ayres:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jacquelyn Ayres I was on a road trip with my aunt almost 2 years ago and somehow we got on the topic of a bus trip she and her girlfriends took. For some reason, they got on the subject of the difference between a prostitute and a Call girl. There was another woman traveling on the bus who overheard them. Apparently, she had heard enough of what they thought the difference was and sat closer to them to give them the real deal. She was a single mom (this was in the late 70's -early 80s) of four. Her husband left her with nothing and she had no skills. She became a call girl and earned enough to get out of her jam and save for the kids' college.
I thought this was terribly brave. What an amazing story! You never hear stories like this. It's always because of a history of abuse or need for drugs. And so Charlotte's story was inspired by this woman's as far as career choice. ;)
The other element of the book as well as the whole series was inspired by my own circle of friends that I've had since I was a little girl. Nothing's better than having a group of friends you can be perpetually twelve around!
