Aaron Fields
Aaron Fields asked Lawrence Wright:

I read you're memoir on Texas right after I transplanted to the Lone Star State. I still reference it when I try to explain the history and region to others. Its a great read that I heavily relate to. When I read about "The End of October" I immediately thought of Michael Crichton. Do you think that your novel is similar to Crichton's style? Any inspiration from him?

Lawrence Wright I actually met Michael Crichton soon after "The Andromeda Strain" came out. I was in a publishing course and he came to talk. So, yes, I was intrigued by him and his work. I remember him saying that it took him some ridiculously short time to write it--weeks, not months. I wish I could emulate him in that way!
