Francisca asked Lawrence Wright:

How does your method differ from moving between fiction and non-fiction? Do you have a different approach to how you might start a book?

Lawrence Wright Of course, there are different rules for each form, but I'm devoted to knowing how things really work, so I'll research a novel just as I would a nonfiction book. The difference is that the imagination plays a larger role in fiction. That means a lot more discursive thinking, trying to grab inspiration out of the air. It's frustrating, but when a great scene or even a line comes to you, that's what it's all about.
