Peter Corrigan asked Lawrence Wright:

I've read 'The Looming Tower' and 'Going Clear' both of which were outstanding. How difficult was the transition to fiction? Was the amount of research similar or considerably less (or more)?

Lawrence Wright It seems to me the process for both nonfiction and the kind of fiction I like to write are similar. For fiction, it's not as necessary to interview the entire field of possible sources, as I try to do in my nonfiction. What I'm looking for in sources, at least with this novel, were more like co-conspirators. I needed people who would let me into their labs, open up their imaginations, tutor me in science, etc. I wound up with some brilliant sources who are now leading the effort to formulate a vaccine.
