A Goodreads user asked Lawana Blackwell:

Do you outline your books?

Lawana Blackwell Kayla, I start with a very rough outline. Best way to start one (for me) is in a quiet place like a porch, with a legal pad I can scribble on and flip pages. Not as intimidating as a computer screen when you’re trying to carve something out of the air. Then I type it all out in order. Useful to have to keep focused, but I always stray from it over the long time it takes me to write. BTW, do print out a calendar (Google one) from the time frame your novel takes place, pick a beginning date so you can account for seasons, nature and such, even if you don’t name the specific year. Thanks for asking, dear, best wishes!
