Jeff Wheeler Many readers have felt the way you do. They loved Argus too! I admit I was saddened by his death as well. As an author, I take pains to make the human drama as realistic as possible. Bad things happen to good people. Good things happen to bad people as well. As I wrote Argus, I wanted to make him as real of a dog character as I could.

Some backstory though. Jon Tayt is based on a real person who had a real dog. And his dog died. So sometimes fact enters fiction. I thought it made the story more compelling so I didn't change Argus' end.
