I don’t have a question per se, but want to tell you how much I have enjoyed reading your books. I’ve read most of Pearl Buck’s, (and Kevin Kwan’s cheeky books) books about Asia, I found that it has such a rich, ancient culture, but not enough writers to tell the story of China’s history. Hopefully you can continue doing just that—weaving Asian culture and history into your books. ?

Thank you for your lovely words. I love Kevin Kwan's books too. "Cheeky" is the perfect word to describe them.
I'm sorry to say that my next book, which will hopefully come out next year, is the first that I've written that doesn't have Asian culture or history. I just finished the second draft this morning, and I'm very excited about the story, which is a huge departure for me.

Hi Lisa, I just finished the Island of the Sea Women and I loved it! I visited Jeju-do in 2015, and while many of the tourist attractions mentioned in the book were familiar to me, I have no memory of learning about the 4-3 incident, so I was enthralled by this book. I am wondering what sources you relied on to build this story, since it obviously has a controversial history? Thank you for writing it!

Dear Lisa, I have just finished "The Island of Sea Women", and doubt the vivid images of these women and their culture will ever fade. I have written a book about women in Mani. It is about their lives and work, their remarkable history, and how they accepted me into their midst as a young woman. Would you be able to look at it and give me advice? I saw an interview with you on YouTube a few months ago. The interview was during the pandemic, maybe 2020-2022. You had mentioned that you were researching an ancestor of yours who were in the American west. Their story seemed interesting. I think it was a prospective book. Is this possible? If you ever write a book about them, I would love to read it. I have enjoyed reading every book of yours so far.
