We've started reading your book in our book club in Melbourne. At the begging I was so attracted to the book. It was all my feelings that you articulated in words. Now, I am in the middle of the book and It is getting bored, I was expected to know more about your personal growth, while in the middle you are talking more about parenting. What is the general aim of this book?

Linda Johnson I think the part about parenting fits in with the overall theme of how as a society we force girls/women and boys/men into certain ways of being--the …moreI think the part about parenting fits in with the overall theme of how as a society we force girls/women and boys/men into certain ways of being--the good, compliant, not too loud girl and the strong, assertive, independent male. The part about her life is her figuring out how to be her authentic self instead of continuing to cram herself into the box society says she should be in. The part about parenting is her trying to raise her kids so they don't even begin trying to live in the box in the first place.(less)
