What inspires your stories? Or do the plot lines just come to you?

Chevy Stevens It's different for different books. With STILL MISSING, it was a "what if?" that came to me when I was working at an open house. With NEVER KNOWING it was a conversation with my editor that triggered the idea. Sometimes it's an image, or a character, or just something that scares me. Then I create a plot line from there and make sure it all holds together.
