(view spoiler)[In It Ends With Us, do you think Lily should have been more transparent about her feelings toward Atlas with Ryle? It's absolutely alright that she still loved him and held on to his memories. However, while the way Ryle reacted was not justified and he should have given her a chance to explain, was it not okay for him to feel hurt and jealous to find out about her feelings toward Atlas after their marriage? (view spoiler)[Atlas was Lily's ex, from when she was a teenager. She was not currently dating him while she was with Ryle, nor was she even flirting with him in any sense. Every human has a past. Ryle dating girls before Lily, Lily had exes. I don't think it was Lily's job at all to give Ryle specific details of a teenage relationship that ended years before. Ryle also has the right to be jealous, as anyone would be. But his jealousy should have been a healthy jealousy. Instead, it resulted in him beating her up. He beat her up. No excuse can justify that. Lily owed him nothing. She was 100% faithful to Ryle. He was jealous because she kept some mementos from her childhood. And Ryle had no right to be jealous of Atlas naming his restaurant in honor of Lily, because Lily didn't know about that until Ryle told her. So it wasn't something she kept from him. So I think Ryle completely overreacted, was entirely out of line, and got off easy because he should have been sent to jail and lost his job. I compare it to my own relationship, I suppose. If my husband found some journals of mine from high school and a magnet I kept on my fridge, he'd laugh about it and tease me. He wouldn't beat me up. Ryle did not have healthy coping mechanisms, despite years of therapy. (hide spoiler)]

Even after finishing It Ends With Us (and re-reading it a hundred times), my mind is still fixated on Ryle as the hero (I really don't know why)....I guess this is because Atlas has a sort of small role and the entire book is Lily's story. I mean I fell in love with Ryle hard and fast...so Atlas was sorta hard to accept(at first). Is this something you wanted or is my way of thinking completely wrong?
