Goodreads asked R.K. Knightly:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

R.K. Knightly Dont try to write like someone else. It is ok to find inspiration elsewhere whether its music or another writer, but when you try to emulate another writer, it sounds fake. Everyone has their own style and you should hone into yours instead of trying to sound different.
No matter what your writing style, there is an audience out there for you. Not everyone loves fifty shades of grey though it was very popular? Ever read the bad reviews on places like amazon? You cant make everyone happy, and you should own that. People are different from each other. one person wants to be cliche? If thats their thing, so be it. Someone wants to break the mold on a popular genre? Again not everyone is going to want to read it. Be happy being you and keep writing, even if you think its terrible. Everyone has to start somewhere and THIS is your beginning.
