Goodreads asked Carrie Davis:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Carrie Davis I find ideas can come from the oddest places. One book I wrote (that will soon be released) is about the son of a man who was a serial killer. I got the idea from a conversation with my mother - we are both true crime fans and we had just watched show on ID (I can't recall which program) and my mom commented on how she felt sorry for the families of the victims, but she also felt sorry for the kids of the killer, because they had to grow up knowing their father had murdered innocent people in cold blood. That comment got me thinking about writing from the view of someone who wants to escape the shadow of his crazed, convicted, serial killer father but finds it nearly impossible. I've actually had several ideas spring from the most random conversations.
