Breezy Kinkade asked P.B. Cannon:

What’d you do as an electronics technician? Excellent experience for sci fi writer. I’m no pro though I have a nice collection of early LED’s—it’s a fascinating science.

P.B. Cannon Hi, Breezy, thank you for your interest. I worked for Bellsouth/AT&T on business telephone circuits (carrier lines, video, internet - they were just getting into fiberoptics when I retired). I did in-office wiring, plugged in the correct circuit pack and also did the testing involved to make sure everything worked properly. I did troubleshooting when something didn't work or was broken. This involved finding exactly where the problem was (if it was on the company's end or the customer's- sometimes having to go to the customer's premise) determining when a circuit pack was defective and procuring another one (or sometimes fixing it if another one wasn't available) and testing with the customer and/or outside installer. I worked with all sorts of equipment and it was interesting, but I was happy to retire! :-)
