Given how much longer Ideology is, it might be a good idea to read Capital first, just make sure you like the style.

I did, but its not necessary. They basically tell the same story from different perspectives.

It is worthwhile since it contains well documented backgrounds of many periods and countries and it really helps to digest facts on (in) equality. Also the insight that the development on the (in)equality is not deterministic but subject to choices helps.
