I find Esther's descent into insanity a little rushed or hasty, but I have never experienced mental trauma like hers. Is it relatable to anyone else? Has anyone gone through what Esther is experiencing and could shed some light on this?

By definition if she's suicidal she is very likely insane. I don't think most people understand the difference between depression and insanity. Millions of people are clinically depressed but they don't put their heads in a fucking oven like Plath. (less)
