In a time where almost every individual is out of work and cannot afford to buy a book or audiobook - I am deeply disappointed that Mr. Koontz has chosen to publish his book through Amazon -- Amazon refuses to sell to their eBooks or Audible books to libraries. I have read "Watchers" at least a dozen times. I also love the Odd series. Dean why have you chosen to publish with an entity that shuns libraries?

I'm a librarian, and no offense but you don't have your information right. When I bought my Audibles for this month Devoted was one of the FREE choices! I think it's only fair to know what you're saying when you make a huge statement like that.

You can absolutely afford a $6.99 book if you want it. So stop.

if you have kindle unlimited this book is free!

I don't understand. Just go to the library and get a hard copy. I put my book on hold before everything shut down, and this week I was able to pick it up at the local library.

You lost me with "almost every individual is out of work" thing, since that is uncategorically wrong, which you know. This is his living. If Amazon offers the best business return for his efforts in writing a book, so be it. And for the record, I too can check out ebooks from my city library.
Lindsay
I am reading Devoted now as a 'free' eBook from my city library, I am also able to download Audible books from that same library.

I borrowed the ebook from my local library for free through Axis360. It's one of 12 Koontz books that are available.

I got Devoted from the Volusia County Library in Florida. It's small print and hard to read, but it's in my library system.

To be fair, I'm sure the decision to publish through Amazon was made long before the virus was known. That said, I don't like that Amazon won't sell to libraries either. I mainly listen to audiobooks and Audible limits the amount you can read for their monthly fee
Rebecca
Using a free trial of Kindle Unlimited is a good way to save money and get lots of free books. You can also get free ebooks form your local library. If you know anything about publishing you'd know that this book was finished well before the release date and the release date was likely set well before the pandemic. Unemployment has been available with extra money for everyone out of work, Authors like everyone else deserve to be paid for their hardwork.

this book is available with kindle unlimited for free to read and listen you can get 30 days for free then pay 9.99 a month for unlimited reading I find that even on my limited income well worth it as there are soooo many books to choose from.

Hi, I'm a librarian who does digital purchasing. Alysa's statement re: library availability is more or less correct. To my knowledge, Devoted is not available for purchase as either an eBook or eAudio outside of the Kindle/Audible umbrella right now. It certainly isn't available on OverDrive (aka Libby), which many libraries, including my own, use as their digital lending platform. However, this doesn't mean that it won't ever be available. It could just be under temporary embargo.
I also find this truly frustrating. We have plenty of users who either prefer or require audiobooks and are not able to purchase them through Audible. Having an eBook copy is also invaluable for users who are housebound or require a very large font size.

Libraries in my area have Devoted as well. I don't know if it's in e-books or hardcovers but libraries definitely have copies. NOW… what is unfortunate for folks that want to keep brick and mortar stores alive is that Barnes and Noble (understandably) won't carry Devoted because it's directly published by Amazon.
Terri
I borrow Kindle ebooks from my library all the time.

Yes, I am SO DELIGHTED that I could read this book for FREE on Audible Plus!
John
At my local library, "Devoted" is not available as a Kindle download or as an ePub download.

I rarely buy anything from Amazon that I truly need the next day. Take advantage of the digital credit for delayed shipping and get the book for free.

kindle unlimited is 99 cents for 2 month subscription now, cancel anytime
