Divya8720 asked April Henry:

How do you get inspiration for your books and their plots?

April Henry A lot of my books start with a "What if?" It might be a real news story. Like Girl, Stolen was inspired by a real local blind girl who was briefly kidnapped when someone stole her mom's car. I saw her on the news and thought - but what if he had kept her? The Girl I Used to Be was inspired by a real 30 yo case - I thought what if you found out your dad was not a killer but a victim? The Lonely Dead started when I thought "What if you could see and talk to the dead?" Run, Hide, Fight Back began with me wondering how we would deal with a terrorist attack on a shopping mall here, which really did happen in Kenya.
