I can understand why they took out the epilogue-ish part in the movie, but I really liked how that finished off the book.

The addition of the station inspector character subplot, I may question, however. I felt the addition of a comedic character wasn't the best decision - although I can understand why this was done also, because its demographic is families, after all.

I was really impressed with how accurately the characters were translated to the screen though. The casting is excellent - the actors actually resemble Selznick's beautiful drawings.(less)
