I'm enjoying A Curious Beginning, and I have to ask - were you a fan of the Anne of Green Gables series? I can't help but notice various similarities.

Deanna Raybourn I've actually never read them! I still don't know how I managed to get through childhood without that series, but there you go. I've been considering reading it as an adult. I have loads of friends who count Montgomery as a really formative author for them.
