asked:
Is it true that Todd and Viola mature along the 2nd and 3rd book? I already read the 1st book and rated it a 1 star, but I still wanted to read the other 2 books because I really liked Viola, and although I hated Todd by the 1st book I liked how he would give and do anything for her. But the 1/5 reviews of the 2nd and 3rd books all said that not only Todd kept getting even more annoying, but also Viola.

I personally really liked Todd as a character. I think he does mature throughout the book series. He changes a lot in the second book, but in Monsters of Men he sometimes feels unrecognizable. I do agree that Viola can be a little annoying sometimes. But both of them are solid characters, so it just depends on what you find annoying about them. Todd gets more mature while Viola starts to show true leadership.

No, they don't mature: they get much worse. They selfishly endanger others' lives and cause many more deaths because they refuse to help the freedom fighters stop the misogynous Mayor. They become truly hateful to the point that they deserve death for their continued indifference to the suffering that they cause, especially to the women & indigenous people.
