Why is it called Essays in Love rather than Essays on Love?

Peach Radvan Because, from a traditional standpoint of the English language, it is more grammatically correct.
(See 'Essays in Existentialism' by Jean-Paul Satré, 'Essays in Persuasion' by John Keynes, 'Essays in Humanism' by Einstein etc etc)

I believe this is because they are essays which explore specific, smaller topics within that subject, rather than 'on' which would suggest a more meta exploration of the subject as a whole. Hope that helps! :)
