A couple things:
Absorbing mana from something is not the same skill set as crystalizing it. They are both related forms of mana manipulation, but it's possible to be able to do one and not the other.
That being said, this process is possible for those people who do have both skills, with the understanding that there can be some mana lost in the process - crystal creation is not 100% mana efficient.

This is not wholly a question, but there is a question present. I wanted to say that I absolutely love the intrinsic lack of “acceptance” language in the world of arcane ascension. As an individual who bumped up the tree in a world quite the opposite, I love feeling “normal” if not mundane. “Same-sex love? I’m sorry, is that not the norm, just like any other?” What was your motivation to include with such nonchalance?
