Goodreads asked Ellen Lindseth:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Ellen Lindseth The idea for THE LONG PATH HOME came from two different sources. The first was an intriguing tale told by Italian friends about WWII Nazi gold lost in Bunker Soratte just north of Rome, a tale backed up by research. The other was a charming book I found in the stacks of the Minneapolis Library: a first-hand narrative of an American Theater Wing unit that toured Italy during WWII, staging the first serious drama for the troops. That's when Vi popped into my head as the actress with a past that would become involved with the Italian Resistance and Nazi gold.
