asked:
Is there a non-binary character and then (separately) also a binary transgender character? In the reviews, most of the references to Lu use they/them pronouns but also one review mentions Lu discovers "they" are a girl, so I don't know if the they/them pronouns are accurately used for a non-binary character or just used by people who can't bring themselves to use accurate she/her pronouns for a transgender girl.

Snap uses she/her pronouns for her on page 187, toward the end of the book when Lulu's transition is further along. But some transgender girls and women use pronouns other than she/her, including they/them, fe/fem, xe/xem pronouns, or a variety of other pronouns, or a combination of pronouns. Hope this helps! I wish we could just ask Lulu!

Lu's transition happens towards the middle of the book so they might not have wanted to spoil that plot point. She is very explicitly a transgender girl in the book though.

Lu is a transgender girl, and it is never really specified if the other character is non-binary or not.

I would say Snapdragon, the main character is more gender non-conforming that anything. Jacks is also a gender-bending woman, and is referred to as "she" but is very androgynous.
