I got the idea for the book while writing in my journal—in cursive. I realized that my kids and grandkids may not be able to read my handwriting. It felt like this big moment—I thought, I’d love to write something that looks at the future through that lens. More grounded in the differences between you and your grandmother than strictly in sci-fi.
