One major common problem from science thriller friction is that they always start with a very brilliant beginning and progress with a lot of fascinating plots through to the 2/3 of the book, but only heads to the direction of a too-disasterous-to-fix-now ending. However, both of the books do not suffer from this issue! Did you plan the whole story before writing to achieve this? I enjoyed both books so much!

Thank you. I don't know how my books will end when I start them. That information only occurs to me generally after the midpoint, and it's often very difficult to figure it out. I agree with your opinion that most books don't end well. A truly surprising but "right" ending is one of the hardest things to do. The comparison to air travel is apt. Taking off is easy. Landing the plane, especially in challenging conditions is very, very, very hard.

I read Recursion, Dark Matter, and Wayward Pines trilogy respectively. I found your stories incredibly haunting. I'm still mentally chewing on the ethical dilemmas your characters endured. I loved the feeling you'd cornered your main character with an impossible decision to make and made the consequences real. Is that a catalyst for writing the stories - asking "what's the worst decision I'd ever have to make?"
