Goodreads asked C.J. Cooke:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

C.J. Cooke Personally, if I get stuck on a particular chapter I skip ahead and keep writing from a point further on in the book and then come back to it in the second draft. I think if you get to a point where you seriously feel like you have no idea what the next word is going to be, then sitting and staring at the screen is the worst thing that you can do. If it's actually starting or not knowing what story to write then I think you need to go back and do more world building. If you put enough into this part it makes the writing a lot easier.
