Cat asked Jacob M. Appel:

I've just finished Who Says You're Dead (absolutely loved it, 5-star review!). Are there instances where your personal ethics and your professional ethics don't align? In other words, are there things that you wouldn't do professionally, but wouldn't object to others doing professionally?

Jacob M. Appel Absolutely. The job of an ethicist in the public eye is to advocate for policy, but in the hospital it is to help people make decisions according to their own values, not to impose ours upon them.
