I loved your writing and would like to know, when you first started writing The Blackthorn Key, what inspired the story?

Kevin Sands It occurred to me that apothecaries were pretty cool—they used potions, and poisons, and secret codes and the like—and I thought a story about an apothecary's apprentice and a secret people were willing to kill for would make a good idea for a story.

Hello, I just noticed that all the covers have a snake. Is this snake important somehow? (There isn't snake in the Czech version, so it took me a little longer than I noticed that)
