Baxter MacDonald
asked:
King was my favorite. Loved the Shining, Fire Starter, Misery etc.. Since Green Mile, however, his books seriously disappointed me. Now I'm loving the first couple of episodes of The Outsider TV series and asking myself, should I give the book a try. Should I? Is this book any different than his last thirty books -- has he got his mojo back (or is it just a great TV production)? Advice?

I typically love all of Stephen King's books, new and old. Mind you I haven't read a lot, just a few. I love the show and so I read the book because of it. Usually I can enjoy because I'm a little bit of a nerd about those things. I found the show to be way better. The book starts off slowly, and the police reports were disruptive to my enjoyment. Eventually it improved, but I still enjoyed the show a lot more.
I have not read or watched Mr. Mercedes, but if you did, one of the characters, Holly Gibney, refers to Bill Hodges and that investigation.
