Reader asked:

Has anyone read Fremont’s previous book After Long Silence? Is The Escape Artist more of a stand alone book or should I read her previous book first?

Joanne You don't have to read After Long Silence to understand what's going on in The Escape Artist. The author does a good job of summarizing the story in that book. (Though it too is excellent.)
Judith Praag I read After a Long Silence while waiting for the publication date of Helen Fremont's latest. Now that I've read both I'd say the latter is a standalone book, as Joanne said before, The Escape Artist can be read by itself, the earlier book is summarized well by the author, but I bet you'll want to read After a Long Silence after you finish. Both are compelling in their own way.
