Alyssa asked C.J. Redwine:

What made you want to write a Faerie-tale retelling?

C.J. Redwine I grew up on fairy tales. Every week my mom would take us down to the public library, and I would check out 20 books (the library's limit). It didn't matter what other books I checked out, I would ALWAYS check out one of the Grimm's fairy tale books. They used to have colored volumes. Brown, purple, red, yellow, white ... maybe others? I'm old, lol. I can't remember them all. But it didn't matter how many times I'd read and re-read them (and those books often had fairy tales that were also in a couple of the other books as well), I would take another volume home and read it again. Fairy tales were a language I could speak far better than anything in my real life. It's an exciting challenge to take those cherished tales and turn them into epic fantasy novels!
