Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

R.J. Kaldanis I love travelling to far off destinations and places that are a bit of the beaten track are my favourite. I recently returned from a six week journey across Europe and got inspired from the rich cultures, incredible architecture and wonderful people I met. I think one thing that has always stood out to me in western culture is that we tend to focus on the same fantasy tropes and characters, there is very little diversity in many of the books out there. I really wanted to make my first series more inclusive and well rounded, so the myths, creatures, names etc. are based on the part of the real world (culturally and geographically) that inspired the location they are visiting in the books.
