Was just reading the second Nightlord book and noticed something odd. Was there a particular reason why crossbow bolts stuck in Erick bolts in this book? In the first book Erik healed so fast bolts would be forced out on their own and it was established that all of his powers were greater in the second book. Was this a continuity error?

To be fair, his regeneration will push foreign bodies out. However, the rate is still not fast. Ideally, he should sit still and wait for projectiles to work their way out, but he was too busy for that--he kept moving. They also had a fair distance to go; most went nearly all the way through him. They were already on their way out, but he didn't feel like waiting. They're still painful, after all.
One did go completely through and stuck, though. His regeneration is a process, not an intelligence. It couldn't "heal it" out of him because it didn't have a clear direction. The wound healed around it, though.

Spoilers for Fugue/From His Shadow. Now that he's dead, I figure it's safe to ask! "Reverend" Aldin makes some interesting allusions to what he is. One that stuck out to me specifically was 'What order and circle does your father belong to?'. Orders, Circles, and angels being somewhat of a pressing concern, was Aldin a Nephilim? As an aside, does that indicate that Fire Witches fall into that same category?

Idea for a short story. You know how Mary loved to take Erik into mirror fun-houses? What if Erik goes into one because he is missing Marry, only this one is magic. It show physic reflections of how you are seen by others, both as images and a physic understanding. Ex. Christiana's reflected image of Eric would show the THING that eats souls while last mirror would show Eric his own self image and force him KNOW it.?
