For those who 'eye' read the book, did you think the unconventional punctuation served a worthwhile purpose? (I'll provide my view in my answer to my own question.)

As I read, I hardly noticed (after page 1), and I whole-heartedly approve of Evaristo's statement (if that's what it is) about punctuation. "Shove your Oxford commas, children."(less)
