Sometimes the lines are very short and this way they are given emphasis. Sometimes the most important word is in the following line, like in an enjambement, and this way the natural order of the sentence is disrupted and it is added meaning. I absolutely loved this device and think that it was part of my fascination for this novel. A way to give also an implicit point of view on thinks. I didn't find it tiring at all (quite the contrary)(less)
