Lynne Stanley No, Claire does not find out what happened to her sister in a definite way. In the last part of the book there are several theories put forth of what happened, and some of them are plausible. Knowing there are several "solutions" to the mystery is comforting, and this helps Claire find closure to the officially unsolved death of her sister.
