Tiffany asked Kelly deVos:

When considering titles for a book you've written, how much do you consider other books with the same title? How much of the title is your decision vs publishers?

Kelly deVos I don't personally spend a lot of time thinking about other book titles or titles in general. While working, I give the book a title I like and sometimes that sticks but sometimes it does not.

It's pretty common for titles to get changed on the publisher's side for marketing or any number of other reasons. My personal experience is that publishers seem to come up with the majority of titles. For instance, DAY ZERO was originally called 2020 (which was the year my near-future fictional universe broke from actual history) when I was working on it but the publisher didn't care for that. They felt it would be hard to search for online and that it was confusing conceptually.

So since the publisher has a team that specializes in these matters, I try not to worry too much about things.
