How do you get inspired to write?

Haley Newlin A lot inspires me to write, music, books, movies. But books more than anything. I read a lot and analyze writing techniques as well as deviations and compliance with genre conventions to consider how I could use those tactics in my own work. Getting excited about a novel I'm reading, the way I did with Stephen King's IT or Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, always gets me running to my writing desk.
