Can someone help me understand the last paragraph of the book? Walt calls up Pat Cook, an old deputy who worked for Lucian in the 70's, wanting to know if he remembered the name of Fred Paulson. Pat said it would be a hard name to forget. Then Walt tells him that he just wanted to give him a call. It may help him to sleep a little better at night.
