Thanks for the great question. I like to write about the regular people who are greatly affected by war. I like to see how a regular person reacts when they're put into an extraordinary circumstance, and no circumstance is more extraordinary than being a young person stuck in the middle of a war. The other reason I write these stories is because I have lost family members to war (most people have) so I think it's important to understand what their lives were like as that happened.
