Goodreads asked Haley Travis:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Haley Travis When you did your very first finger painting as a child, you enjoyed the process. No offense, but I'm guessing that the artwork itself was pretty lousy. That's okay - you were learning.
The same goes with writing, or any new skill. Work at it with no expectations. Don't try to make anything "perfect" while you're first learning. Make a mess, find your voice, work like heck and improve every day. Then someday you'll get a text from your Mom like I did just now that says, "Finished the book, and I say WELL DONE!"
