My currently available novel was inspired by my days wandering around abandoned houses and properties, mostly the old Deakyne-Vogel house near Smyrna, Delaware. The structure became a usual hangout for me, especially if I needed some inspiration or a place to clear my head, and some ideas for a horror story seemed to emerge based on the atmosphere of the actual location. It didn't seem sinister or haunted, or anything like that, but the look of the property, ancestral graves and all, just seemed to work well for a horror story.
