Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Dan Ames I get the idea for HEAD SHOT when I saw an interview with a famous actor. The actor said he gets approached on the street all the time by people who talk to him as if he is the character he portrays. I wondered what would happen if the wrong person made that mistake.

I've just read To Find a Mountain, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I just have a question - insignificant really, but it's bugging me. I know Italian for German is Tedesci, but you use the term Germanesi. Is this dialect, local to the area where the novel is set, or was it a (derogarory?) term used during the occupation?
