I really enjoyed this book but am still confused about something. Was Mirabel/Fate also the story sculptor? Did she actually hide her own heart or did I misunderstand? Also does enyone understand the significance of the Owl King? I was a bit underwhelmed by how his storyline turned out.

Yes, Mirabel lived and died many times. In different incarnations she was a different person.
